In the making: En–Knap Group in the Cansiglio Forest
The Cansiglio Forest in the Venetian Prealps was another filming location for the new performance by Mattia Cason with En–Knap Group, premiering in February 2027. The dancers’ visit is part of a research process that approaches Venice through the places, people and materials that remain embedded in the city.
Aerowaves Annual Selection Meeting: 56 European contemporary dance professionals in Bucharest
Bucharest hosted the Aerowaves Annual Selection Meeting from 18 to 21 October 2026, bringing together 56 contemporary dance professionals from across Europe, including Iztok Kovač, who attended as a representative of En–Knap.

On 16 October at 8 pm, the ULTRA Screendance Festival presented two iconic En–Knap films at the Visionario cinema: Vertigo Bird (1997) and Dom Svobode (2000), created in collaboration between Iztok Kovač and director Sašo Podgoršek.
Workshop series with architecture students: Exploring space through dance
What happens when we begin to explore architecture through dance? We welcomed students from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Architecture to the En–Knap dance studio at Španski Borci for a series of workshops, where they will exchange spatial planning for a few hours of exploring space through their own bodies.
Led by En–Knap Group dancer Tina Habun, the workshop explored how movement shapes our experience of space – and how space, in turn, shapes the way we move.
Discover the 11th Dance On Screen FilmFestival in Graz
From 30 October to 1 November 2026, Kunsthaus Graz will host the eleventh edition of the international Dance On Screen FilmFestival. Our festival friends invite you to discover 37 dance films from around the world across five screening blocks, alongside opportunities to meet fellow artists and take part in a practical workshop.

We followed En–Knap Group into the Kamnik–Savinja Alps for a day of filming. The dancers are preparing video material for a new performance, premiering in February 2027.
Our posters are among the Mestna 5KA finalists
En–Knap is a finalist in two categories of the Mestna 5KA awards for 2025: in the Prebojnik category for the poster for Na knap. Festival of Short Dance Form, and in the Frekvenčnik category for its posters throughout the year. Presented by TAM-TAM, the awards recognise urban posters and the organisations that commission them. The winners will be announced on 19 October 2026 at Stara mestna elektrarna. We are pleased that our posters help bring dance to people on city streets.
The body carries armour; the armour carries the body: En–Knap and the City of Women Festival hosted Fotini Stamatelopoulou in Španski Borci
On 5 October, we hosted NEAR MISSES, produced by Onassis Stegi, on Španski Borci stage as part of the En–Knap international guest programme. In collaboration with the City of Women Festival, we brought one of the most distinctive and increasingly compelling voices on the contemporary Greek dance scene to Ljubljana.

NaKnap 2026 wrap-up: three days of short dance forms across stage, screen and virtual reality
On 2 October, we wrapped up this years edition of NaKnap, the Festival of Short Dance Form at Španski Borci. Over three festival days, we moved between stage, screen and virtual reality: 8 stage performances, 23 dance films and 7 VR experiences by artists from 25 countries brought short, playful and intense worlds of dance to Ljubljana.
Vertigo Bird and Dom svobode at ULTRA Festival in Udine
ULTRA Screendance Festival in Udine explores how the body and choreography are transformed through the lens of cinema. Now in its fourth edition, the international festival brings together dance film, video art, animation and audiovisual experimentation, with screenings and conversations that connect artists and audiences.

Three Quarters of a Human Selected for the 13th Gibanica Biennial of Contemporary Dance
Three Quarters of a Human, a performance by choreographer Kristina Aleksova, co-produced by En–Knap and Via Negativa, has been selected for the main programme of the 13th Gibanica Biennial of Contemporary Dance, taking place in Ljubljana from 21 to 25 April 2027. At the core of the performance are the dancers of En–Knap Group as well as guest dancers and performers.
From Duino to Moste: Pablo Girolami Premieres The Rilke Project
At this year’s Moste Open, Italian choreographer Pablo Girolami and his production company IVONA premiered The Rilke Project: Angels’ Orders, a new choreographic work developed within the Pan-Adria regional contemporary dance network. Selected as the Pan-Adria Fellow for the 2026/2027 season, Girolami presented the work in front of Španski Borci, marking the beginning of the project’s journey across the region.
