Organised by the National Centre for Dance Bucharest (CNDB) in collaboration with the European Aerowaves network and partner ARCUB. Held at Casa Eliad, the gathering focused on discovering and supporting emerging choreographic voices, contributing to the development of a diverse, dynamic and internationally connected European contemporary dance scene.

The meeting brought together 56 international guests from across Europe, including curators, theatre and festival directors, and other professionals working in the presentation, promotion and development of the performing arts. Over three working days, participants reviewed and evaluated more than 600 applications for new choreographic works and took part in the selection process. The aim was to identify artists and performances bringing fresh perspectives, innovative artistic approaches and new directions of exploration to European contemporary dance.

The Aerowaves Annual Selection Meeting is an important opportunity to discover and support emerging dance artists. It provides a platform for professional evaluation and dialogue among representatives of organisations closely following developments on the international dance scene. Beyond the selection process, the meeting also creates space for exchanging ideas and experiences among cultural organisations, institutions, festivals and venues, encouraging new collaborations and increasing the international visibility of dance productions. Participants from numerous countries discussed current trends in contemporary dance, the role of institutions and festivals in supporting artists, and the importance of international touring and cross-border cultural exchange.

For En–Knap, participation in the Aerowaves network is an important part of its ongoing commitment to international collaboration and the mobility of contemporary dance productions. The annual meeting offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships, establish new connections and contribute to the selection of emerging choreographic voices from across Europe.

This year's gathering in Bucharest once again highlighted the importance of such encounters in sharing perspectives and fostering lasting relationships within the European contemporary dance community. We would like to thank the National Centre for Dance Bucharest (CNDB) and ARCUB for their warm hospitality and for bringing the Aerowaves network together for three days of inspiring discussions and collective work.

About Aerowaves

Aerowaves is a European network dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging dance artists and choreographers. With partners in 34 countries, it creates opportunities for dance performances to tour internationally and reach new audiences.

The network connects artists, programmers, curators and other dance professionals across Europe, facilitating the exchange of experiences, the development of collaborations and the international presentation of choreographic works.

One of its key initiatives is Spring Forward, a European festival presenting selected works by emerging choreographers from across Europe. Aerowaves also supports the development of dance criticism and writing, offers opportunities for early-career curators and develops other international initiatives connecting artists and dance organisations.
