Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik is a Slovenian choreographer, dancer, educator and video artist. One of the key figures of contemporary dance in Slovenia, she creates performance, research and educational projects that explore movement as both a mode of behaviour and a spatial-visual practice. She holds a Master of Arts degree from the London Contemporary Dance School (1999) and has collaborated with numerous artists across dance, theatre, music and visual arts. In 2009, she co-founded the collective Federacija, whose interdisciplinary projects engage diverse communities and social groups. Her work has received numerous awards, including the Dance Europe Critics' Choice Award (2003), the Povodni mož Award (2004), the Gibanica Jury Award (2007), the Ksenija Hribar Award (2015, 2021) and the Župančič Award (2021).
Inspired by Gabriel García Márquez's novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, the performance explores the enigmatic figure of Rebeca. Through a series of scenes, images and encounters, it traces a portrait of a woman suspended between memory and desire, intimacy and myth. Dance, music and text function as equal partners within the work. At times they converge, at others they diverge, creating a shifting landscape of meanings and associations. Through their interplay, Rebeca gradually emerges in multiple forms: as an everyday woman shaped by her circumstances, and as a larger-than-life presence whose story resonates beyond the boundaries of the novel. The performance does not seek to illustrate a character, but rather to reveal the many layers of her solitude.
