Glorious Epic Wet

Glorious Epic Wet is a stormy choreographic work that reimagines heroism in a time of instability. Expanding from a duet into a charged group constellation, the performance dissolves the singular hero into a shifting collective body. This co-production project, developed by two partners within the Moving Balkans network, brings together five dancers from En–Knap Group and five dancers selected by the Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia (CDAS / DSPS). For this occasion, choreographer Sofia Mavragani has been invited to reimagine her epic choreographic work for an expanded ensemble of ten dancers. Choreographed to adapt to both site-specific and indoor contexts, the project will be presented in a variety of environments, aiming the work to enter into dialogue with different architectural spatial and social conditions.

Storm-like and physically charged, the work proposes a different epic—one written by many bodies navigating instability together. In this landscape, glory is no longer monumental; it arises in interconnectedness, shared endurance, and fleeting solidarities within uncertain terrain. At its core lies a pressing question: who carries the burden of collapse? As dominant narratives of power erode, the sovereign figure gives way to a fragile plurality negotiating survival together. Water—both material and metaphor—shapes the choreographic terrain: sustaining yet threatening, connective yet destabilizing. Its presence alters balance, rhythm, and resistance. Bodies slip, support, collide, and reorganize, constantly recalibrating between solidity and exposure. Collectivity emerges as adaptation under pressure.

A collective on slippery ground.

Glorious Epic Wet is a state of being — a proposed mindset. A way of seeing that allows us to recognize glory and epicness in the small and often unnoticed: in fleeting moments, subtle connections, and everyday gestures we tend to overlook while waiting for something 'bigger' to happen.
