Moving Balkans announces the artists selected for its second showcase in Novi Sad

The Moving Balkans contemporary dance platform is pleased to announce the selection of 10 contemporary dance productions for the second edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase, taking place from 13 to 16 May 2026 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Alongside the performances, the programme will feature six Dance Scape project pitches, offering artists the opportunity to present their work to an international network of curators, producers and festival representatives. Dance Scape encourages dialogue, strengthens collaborations and opens up new touring opportunities. The 10 productions were selected from a total of 214 applications by the Moving Balkans artistic committee, together with two international dance experts—Ingrida Gerbutavičiūtė, Director of tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf, and Samme Raeymaekers, former Director of Dansens Hus Oslo—at a curatorial meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria. The selected works represent a wide range of perspectives and choreographic languages shaping the diverse and vibrant contemporary dance landscape of the Balkans.

The 2026 Showcase will offer artists a unique opportunity to present their work to a wide range of international dance professionals, cultural organisations and the general public. Alongside performances and project pitches, the programme will include networking events, creating space for exchanging ideas, building connections and strengthening the artistic network.

Founded in 2024 and co-funded by the European Union, the Moving Balkans contemporary dance platform works to increase the visibility and competitiveness of contemporary dance from the Balkans internationally. Through showcases, Dance Scape pitches and other initiatives, the platform supports artistic talent and strengthens the regional dance ecosystem.

Following the successful first edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase, held from 10 to 13 May 2025 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Rijeka and Zagreb, Croatia, the second edition will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 13 to 16 May 2026.
