The workshop by dancer and choreographer Oulouy offers a dynamic exploration of key street dance styles from the African continent and its diaspora. From Ivory Coast to South Africa, a range of vibrant movements unfolds through coupé-décalé, afro-fusion, ndomboló, afro-house, and amapiano. Grounded in rhythm, identity, and collective joy, the workshop opens a space for encountering the cultural richness and expressive power of these dance forms – in a spirit of community and celebration.
Born in Ivory Coast and based in Barcelona for many years, Oulouy is recognized as a key figure on the national and international urban dance scene. As a choreographer, performer, artistic director, and educator, he inspires audiences and dance creators worldwide. Black was selected for the Danza a Escena 2024 catalogue and forms part of Oulouy’s broader exploration of contemporary urban dance and African cultural heritage on the global stage. He is one of the chosen choreographers of Aerowaves Twenty25 platform.
