Csaba Molnár was born in Lučenec (Slovakia) in 1986. He started his studies at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Accademy and continued in P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios, directed by Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker, Bruxelles) graduating in 2008. He has worked as a performer with Adrienn Hód, Eszter Gál, Wally Cardona, and with the Florence-based company Virgilio Sieni Danza. He is a funding member of the BLOOM! artistic collective, and he develops his interest as a choreographer independently as well as with the collective. In addition to his own works, he currently works for the Hungarian dance company Hodworks and teaches regularly at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy.
The VR performance Masterwork for Six Dancers opens the door to a world of body parts and props that decompose, intertwine, and move beyond ordinary functionality. The body becomes an object (of dance), an object of becoming; its movement, its autonomy, and the use of props create a world that lives on its own. It is not imitation, nor alienation—it is play that surpasses meaning, agency without limitation, infinite sensibility, and the joy of abstract existence. Every movement is an exploration of freedom and potential, every object or prop a tool for transformation and discovery of new bodily dimensions.
In its segmented VR staging, the performance creates an intimate yet spatially expansive experience. The viewer enters a world where body, objects, and space merge, shift, and resonate in a multilayered choreography, while also becoming part of the play itself. Combining Bauhaus philosophy, the Triadic Ballet, and the concept of “objectification,” the VR piece opens a space for paradoxical freedom—where art is not only observed, but lived, felt, and actively co-created.
